Our Process
How best to plan for your project with RKB Renovations
At RKB Renovations we are committed to providing our clients with an accurate and value for money proposal for their renovation project. We understand that renovating your home is a major investment and we strive to make this process as stress free and enjoyable as possible.
We use our Pre Construction Process (PAC Process) to properly understand client expectations and ensure we obtain the most accurate information available to provide our clients with a final proposal that properly reflects the scope of work for their project.
How our pre construction process provides value for our clients
- Accurate costings for your project by the builder who will do the project. Architects and designers are experts at their part of the building process, but do not have the knowledge of costs like a builder who deals with these numbers every day.
- Expert advice on building methods and materials.
- Detailed inspections of your site to gain as much information as possible to allow for an accurate scope of works and costing.
- You get to know your builder before you go to contract. Work out if your personalities and expectations align so you feel comfortable that you’ve made the best choice to suit you.

How our pre construction process works
Before signing a contract with RKB Renovations as the builder for your project, we work as a consultant, similar to your designer, engineer or certifier.
Our Pre Construction Process includes the following stages:
- Initial Client Meeting (Approx 1-2 hours)
We will meet you onsite or at a suitable location to discuss your project and what you want to acheive. This is generally done with your Building Designer or Architect and is an opportunity for you to meet RKB Renovations director Ryan Brown and get an idea of what we are about as a builder and if we are suitable for your project. We conduct a basic site inspection (if onsite) and provide initial feedback on your designs. - Preliminary Cost Analysis
We provide a Preliminary Cost Analysis based on the Concept Design and initial project budget. This is based on experience on previous projects, understanding of current industry conditions and costs. This is to be used as a guide only to establish the suitability of the initial project budget. - Detailed Site Inspections
We conduct a series of detailed site inspections with some of our key subcontractors which allows us to gain further information around the buildability of your project.
- Secondary Cost Analysis
We provide a secondary cost analysis at approximately Detail Design stage which enables the client and designer to see how the designs are tracking for overall budget. This is based on known site measurements and a more detailed understanding of the overall design intention of the project. Ideally we would expect engineering specifications to be provided prior to this cost analysis to ensure we have as much information as possible before submission. - Client Supplier Visits and Specialist Contractors
We will arrange visits with our preferred suppliers to select fixtures and finishes. Once these selections are made they will form part of our product specifications in our final proposal. - Detailed Project Proposal
Once we have your completed designs (Construction Issue plans, Final Engineering, Soils Test and Specifications) we then move to providing our Detailed Project Proposal. This will form the scope of works that our building contract is based on.
